Black and Gold Limestone (Weichgestein):
Janua's natural stones are always finished with a silky matt leather surface. This is carried out in two steps: The natural stone is ground according to its hardness. Hard rocks must be ground significantly longer than soft rocks. Subsequently, the surface is worked with brushes of varying degrees of hardness. The result is a matte appearance and a high-low relief. Similar to brushed wood surfaces, the harder areas of the natural stone remain elevated while the softer veins and areas gain a depth relief. The stone does not shine and resembles leather. This form of surface treatment is also referred to as a satin finish. Natural stone surfaces with a leather look are versatile and easier to care for than polished or smoothed stone surfaces.
