Lelita Morton Napanangka was born on 7 February 1986 and is a talented artist from the communitv of Yuelamu known as Mt Allen, located approximately 280kms north-west of Alice Springs.
Lelita is the daughter to artists Tom Morton Japangardi and Evelyn Morton Nampitjinpa Daniels and was inspired by her parents to start painting from a very young age. Lelita learnt both the stories passed down to her from her mother and her late father, painting "My Father's Country"as well as "Bush Onion", "Honey Ant Dreaming"and "Tali (Sandhills)".
Lelita is most recognised for her stunning, detailed depictions of Tali, which are the sacred sandhills seen throughout her Country. The artist utilises a meticulous dotting technique, creating a soft flowing movement all throughout the canvas. Lelita's mesmerising artworks, painted in often soft or monochromatic colour palettes, make her pieces both beautiful and highly contemporary.
